To get into the spirit of things we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. As we have a huge amount to be thankful for.
It was a mini-celebration really. And, as we’d already dismantled the table in preparation for the packers coming next week, we had to eat off trays in the lounge. Not my usual choice for a “formal” dinner. But it was still lovely. I dug out some tea lights to make the room look a little bit festive – it looks bare and dusty the rest of the time now.
I planned to try the classic sweet potatoes with marshmallows but, thanks to a rancid butter incident that is best left unmentioned as it resulted in a mini-meltdown, we just ate marshmallows. However, if I may say so myself, the pecan pie was a triumph.
We’re not counting down weeks now – it’s merely days until our departure. 12 days.
